1973 Cessna 182P Skyplane – N21597

Remarks:
The timeless Skylane, probably the perfect match of engine and airframe in a personal cross-country airplane. The old saying with Skylanes is that if it will fit in the cabin, you can carry it so fill up the seats, baggage compartment and fuel tanks and fly away. In production since the 1950s and improved over the years, this aircraft has much to offer.

Pluses:

  • a P-Ponk conversion in 2004, ‘597 has an additional 40 more horsepower than you stock Skylane engine giving it impressive climb and cruise performance on about the same amount of fuel burn. I have flown non-stop from N40 to Ocala, Florida and Green Bay, Wisconsin back to N40.
  • Cruise speeds in the 135 TAS range.
  • New paint and new leather interior in 2001.
  • HSI equipped with slaving.
  • S-TEC System 55 autopilot with coupling capability.
  • Garmin 430 WAAS GPS.
  • PS Engineering 3000, 4-place intercom.
  • Rosen see through sun visors, the industries best.
  • JPI graphic engine analyzer.
  • Electronics International Fuel Flow Instrument for super accurate fuel usage.
  • DME equipped.

Future Improvements:

  • Addition of GPSS (GPS Steering) to allow automatic flight plan following by autopilot.
